‘Rockstar’ title can go against film: Ranbir
"The title ‘Rockstar’ can sometimes go against us because when people hear Rockstar, they feel the film will have this guy who will wear a leather jacket, will break the guitar, will create a mess on the stage. Actually the film is about a character, a Jat boy, and whatever happens in his life, he tells the world about it through his songs," Ranbir told reporters.
The actor has strummed the guitar, indulged in head banging, and rocked the stage for the movie, set for release Nov 11. In the movie, Ranbir plays the role of Janardhan or Jordan, an aspiring singer, who goes on to be a popular rockstar.
Ranbir went out of his way to learn how to play the guitar for the film.
"I had no idea how to play the guitar and neither can I sing. But since the character was that of a musician, I felt it was important to learn how to play the guitar because when I would perform on the stage before a large audiences, they would feel truth behind it," he said.
‘Rockstar’, directed by Imtiaz Ali, marks the debut of model Nargis Fakhri.
Sridevi homesick in New York
Just after her father-in-law Surinder Kapoor`s demise, Sridevi left for the shoot in New York.
Not being emotionally up to it at the moment, the actress has taken husband Boney along for moral support, says a source.
"Sridevi would be shown shooting in some of the most crowded and difficult parts of New York. She will have to be shown mingling with commuters and crowds. A shy person by nature, it`s taking Sridevi a lot of willpower to get herself out on the streets to shoot in the bustle and jostle of New York."
Says another source: "Sri was reluctant to leave so soon after the family tragedy and would`ve asked for a postponement. Considering the steep production costs and the fact that Sridevi features in nearly every frame of the film, she left as soon as she could."
"Striking down the earlier plan that she would shoot alone, Boney Kapoor accompanied her to New York since she didn`t want to be alone there," he added.
Apparently, the actress is already homesick and missing her daughters, but determined to shoot without them as she doesn`t want them to miss school.
Speaking from New York, producer R. Balki said: "Around 80 percent of `English Vinglish` has to be shot in New York. There are 85 avenues in for Sridevi to explore during the 50-day schedule. It`s tough because Sri is an instantly recognised face among Indians in the US."

Riteish v/s Riteish next IPL as Housefull 2 & Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum clash
Come April 2012 and Riteish Deshmukh may well be creating 'double dhamaal', albeit of an altogether different kind. Two of his films are all set to clash with each other. Not just that as both are not just comedies but also sequels to successful films.
"Housefull 2 and Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum would be clashing with each other in the first weekend of April next year", confirms an industry source, "It would be quite interesting sinceHousefull as well as Kyaa Kool Hain Hum were comedies and had featured Riteish. Now this is for the first time in Bollywood history that two sequels are taking on each other and that too in the same day." What makes this clash further interesting is the fact that they would be releasing in the week when IPL 2012 would have just kick-started. In the times when no movie dares to come anywhere in the vicinity of IPL, the makers (Sajid Nadiadwala and Ekta Kapoor respectively) are not budging from their stand. "This is a precarious situation for Riteish though", says a close associate of the actor, "Both movies are really quite close to his heart. KKHH was one of his first major hits other than Masti while Housefull stays on to be his highest grosser till date. He is very attached to these two franchises. It would be very painful for him if the two films end up clashing with each other." However, he may not have to worry much as trade feels that this clash would be ultimately avoided. No one wants business of one film to be impacted by another, more so since Housefull as well as Kyaa Kool Hai Hum have a high recall value and a loyal audience. Just for their sake this clash has to be averted. Hope the makers too agree. |
